Here’s a sample itinerary for the Sandakphu Trek:
Day 1: Arrive at Hilley (1,981m)
- Reach to a village in a sanctuary, Hilley (the base camp for the first night).
- Indo-Nepal Border it is situated at.
- Relax in a homestay overnight.
Day 2: Hilley to Achalay (3,048m)
- First day of the trek, walk into the forest of Rhododendron and other floras.
- Walking through the small Sherpa villages.
- Camp overnight at Achalay.
Day 3: Achaley to Kalijhar (3,596m)
- A trek to the tropical alpine forest with a view of Mt. Kanchenjunga and ranges.
- Flora and Faunas here are rare to find in other terrains.
- Campsite for the night at Kalijhar.
Day 4 : Kalijhar to Phoktey View Point to Phalut (3,732m)
- The day of reaching the most beautiful view point of Singalila Range.
- A 360 degree panoramic view of Mt. Everest, Makalu, Lohtse & Dhaulagiri Ranges of Nepal.
- Camp overnight at Phalut and experience star trails throughout the dark.
Day 5 : Phalut and towards Gorkhey (2,346m)
- Waking up early and watching sunrise on the Mt. Kanchenjunga Ranges.
- Packing up the tents and descend to a very quiet village, Gorkhey.
- Camp overnight with bonfire and music.
Day 6 : Gorkey to Siliguri
- Head back to Siliguri.
